Belal Muhammad and Leon Edwards have a bit of history among them. The pair initially met at UFC Fight Night for what was expected to be a mouth-watering clash. However, the fight ended as a draw after Edwards accidentally poked Muhammad in the eye. Since then, the pair has been waiting to settle their differences inside the Octagon. Following Lovell’s claims of the fight being 99.9% confirmed, Chael Sonnen revealed that nothing is confirmed yet.

While speaking to Cormier at ESPN MMA, he did agree to the fact that ‘Rocky’ should face Muhammad next. However, he also shared, “No there’s not. If Leon’s gonna defend the championship it’s gotta be against Belal. As long as there’s no illness and or injury between the two of them. I checked with both camps as early as yesterday. They both said they are fine. However, they don’t have this deal done. They are rumored. They believe it’s in the talks but I am just sharing with you. Like that thing still dangling. “
