Riding a four-fight winning streak, both Mike Davis and Fares Ziam entered the Octagon with one intent: to win. This determination pushed both lightweight stars beyond their limits, delivering a brutal battle of blows that shook the ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. There were kicks, elbows, and even a headshot that busted open Davis’ skull mid-fight, their fight was nothing but a battle between two gladiators but in the end, it was Ziam who had the last laugh.

Mike Davis stormed in, throwing some nuclear bombs and hunting takedowns at Ziam but the Algerian fighter stuffed him twice. Both the fighters traded clinches strikers before Ziam Davis up with rapid-fire punches in round one. However, Davis finally landed a takedown as he took Ziam’s back. Despite the attempts, Ziam took the round.

Round two was all about chaos as Davis ate a brutal knee and then proceeded to be hoisted and dumped by Ziam. Davis locked in a nasty calf slicer, but Ziam somehow rolled with it and escaped. Blood painted the mat as Ziam hammered down shots before the horn. Another round for Ziam.

It must be noted that ‘Smile Killer’s elbow strikes did open up Davis’s skull in the second round but he returned it back as Ziam suffered a huge cut above his eye. After a hard-fought battle Fares Ziam def. Mike Davis via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) and the fans couldn’t hold back their excitement.

Starting off it was former lightweight contender, Renato Moicano, who couldn’t wait till the fight was over as he gave his verdict, “That’s a great fight! Congrats both fighters! I was expecting a war in the feet but was a very good grappling mma fight! Who won !? I don’t know prob ziam #UFCSaudiArabia.”

Furthermore, Sodiq Yusuff believes that Mike Davis appeared a little hurt as he was not himself in his clash against Ziam. “I wonder if Davis came in hurt. He dies not look like himself.” It must be noted that it will be the third defeat of his MMA career and now the record stands at 11-3. Furthermore, would it had been a five-rounder, Davis would have clinched the victory according to a fan, “Davis woulda won that if it was 5 rounds.”

Was it due to his injuries, or was there another factor? Mike Davis appeared a bit off the mark in his clash and a fan believed that it was not even a fair fight, “I mean, that’s not really fair. The guys leg is obviously made of rubber.” Well, the fighter might have to take care of himself after the clash as he has been badly injured.

Ziam held his ground and showcased why he should be feared in the lightweight division and he might have earned a fan through his performance today,“Winning all 3 rounds. Very impressive.”

“I don’t care who I fight, I never do. They always send me a name and I just say, Where’s the contract with it? Who? It doesn’t matter,” Davis said ahead of his clash and he for sure proved it. A fan was awestruck by the performance, “What a war this was! Good battle.”
