UFC 286 has created ripples in the UFC welterweight division. Leon Edwards successfully defended his title against Kamaru Usman. This left Usman ranked #1 in the division. The second spot holder Colby Covington is now vying for a title shot. While Leon Edwards didn’t seem to agree that Covington was the perfect match for his next fight, Colby Covington seemed confident that the UFC will give him an opportunity to fight for the title. In a recent interview with Mike Heck from MMA Fighting, Colby Covington revealed why Leon Edwards trying to choose his opposition was not appropriate.

‘Chaos’ mentioned that Kamaru Usman was not the mean fighting machine anymore. He said that Usman had lost his hunger and was past his prime. The former welterweight champion went into the trilogy fight against Edwards with one win and one loss. While many fans expected him to prove that his knockout against Edwards was a fluke, The fight laid all such apprehensions to rest after the majority decision landed in favor of Leon Edwards.

Colby Covington feels Kamaru Usman was not at his best

In the interview, Colby Covington looked very confident about the chances of him getting in a title fight. He mentioned how he himself had beaten Kamaru Usman the last time they met. He wished Leon Edwards good luck but didn’t credit him for defending his title.

Covington said,let me say to Leon good luck with that Junior good luck with that first off you don’t make the calls you’re not even you haven’t even defended the title like you fought a shelve and former cell from Usman who obviously was doing too much filming for Wakanda is forever for the Black Panther movie that he wasn’t focused and he’s just past the hill he’s one foot out one foot in you see he’s saying interviews he wants to retire.”

‘Chaos’ didn’t stop there as he took aim at a different target.

Covington lashes out at journalists

“Chaos'” didn’t mince his words about some “groupie” journalists. He criticized how some journalists who had recently canceled Dana White for his latest venture the ‘Powerslap’. According to these were the same journalists who were now asking Dana White how he could give Colby Covington an opportunity to take a title shot. Colby Covington also talked about him making weight at UFC 286 as the official backup. He said it happened because he was always ready and available.
