He opened up on many things, including his recent inactivity and his upcoming clash against ‘Iron’, who was present on the set as well. The hard-hitting lightweight also shared his prediction for a potential future fight between the current champion of his division, Charles Oliveira, and his former opponent, Dustin Poirier.

Oliveira bettered Chandler at UFC 262 to get his hands on the prestigious UFC gold. However, Gaethje believes that as there are still signs of quit in the champion, a seasoned veteran like Dustin Poirier might just capitalize on that. Poirier is notably coming off two back-to-back wins against Conor McGregor.

Justin Gaethje predicts Poirier to make Oliveira quit

The Highlight‘ thinks Oliveira is vulnerable when taken into deep waters. Hence, against a born fighter like ‘The Diamond’, ‘Do Bronx’ might just be exposed.

I handicap no match in the sport. I am a fan because luck and chance are always a factor. I think Dustin Poirier is better. I think Charles Oliveira still has the quit deep down in him. Not even deep, pretty shallow. Michael Chandler showed it,” said Gaethje.

Dustin Poirier will make him quit, probably from, you know, being you know, more hungry, more pressure. We’ll see. I mean, I want Charles Oliveira to show me that he doesn’t, he is not a quitter. Because nothing has showed me that,” he added.

It’s true the Brazilian champion can be exposed. However, he has eventually managed to reach the top of the mountain with his persistent effort over the years. If anybody deserves the spotlight and attention from the fans, it’s Charles Oliveira. Fans cannot wait to see him take on an Octagon veteran like ‘The Diamond’ in the first defense of his title.

Who is your pick? Dustin Poirier or Charles Oliveira?
