Demetrious Johnson weighs in on his comeback situation
Demetrious Johnson has made it clear that he has no intention of stepping back into the Octagon to face flyweight king Alexandre Pantoja. After being called out, Johnson addressed the challenge on his YouTube channel, explaining that his decision to step away from competition was based on his age and financial security. While some fans still hold out hope for a potential comeback, Johnson’s recent comments on The Ariel Helwani Show reaffirmed that his retirement is final.
Reflecting on Pantoja’s call-out, Johnson said, “It was a good fight by Alexandre Pantoja and Kai Asakura. Was that a little surprising that he called me out? A little bit, because, you know, one thing that people, if you know me as a person outside the cage when I say ‘I will do something,’ I mean it one thousand percent… I’m black and white. It’s either I’m in or I’m out. And when I said ‘my black a** is retired,’ everybody out there, I don’t sell false dreams, I don’t sell wolf tickets, I don’t sell none of that bulls*t, my black a*s is not coming back.”
