If, by some miracle, you missed UFC 320 and the massive buzz that followed on social media, Alex Pereira delivered a statement performance for the ages. The Brazilian avenged his loss to Magomed Ankalaev in devastating fashion—rocking the Russian with a stiff right hand early in the first round before taking him down and unleashing a barrage of vicious ground-and-pound. Just 80 seconds in, it was all over.

With that, Pereira snapped Ankalaev’s 14-fight unbeaten streak and reclaimed the UFC light heavyweight title. While the Russian is still recovering from the crushing defeat, the man who handed it to him is basking in glory—and his celebrations have only gotten bigger. Topps, the iconic trading card company, has announced a series of exciting prizes for Pereira’s fans in honor of his spectacular victory.

Alex Pereira’s UFC 320 win gets immortalized through trading cards
Earlier today, Topps revealed on social media that Alex Pereira’s unique celebration following his victory over Magomed Ankalaev has been immortalized as a trading card. “That was fast 😳 Alex Pereira’s 80-SECOND KNOCKOUT to reclaim the Light Heavyweight title just got made into a trading card. CHAMA,” they captioned the post while sharing pictures of the two cards. The company also highlighted the perks of purchasing the base edition of the card.

They added, “Collectors who purchase the base edition of this card have a chance at receiving autographs or short prints with their order.” ‘Poatan’ already boasts several popular cards, but this one might just be the most iconic of them all. Notably, Topps—valued at $1.3 billion when it went public in 2021—has been associated with the UFC’s trading cards since 2008.
Although their initial partnership ended in 2020, the UFC renewed its collaboration last year through a multi-year deal with Fanatics Collectibles, which had acquired Topps. Regardless, while Pereira celebrates, Magomed Ankalaev has since released his first statement on the loss.
Magomed Ankalaev comes to terms with crushing UFC 320 defeat
Magomed Ankalaev has spoken out for the first time since suffering a brutal knockout loss to Alex Pereira at UFC 320. Losing after 14 wins can be difficult, especially when you have overcome the challenge once, but the former champion remains composed and motivated. In his first public statement following the loss, Ankalaev expressed gratitude and faith.
“If Allah tested me with defeat, then He wants to toughen me. I bow to His will, but not to difficulties.” He also addressed his supporters, adding, “To those who stayed–thank you. To those who turned out, thank you too. After all, Allah clears the way not only of weakness, but also of unnecessary people.”
Prior to the fight, things were too heated between Ankalaev and Pereira over the former’s social media trash talk. Pereira took the insults about sending him back to the tire shop personally, and the result was a knockout in 1:20 of the first round. Since then, he has also indirectly jibed at Ali Abdelaziz, Ankalaev’s manager, who supposedly handles his socials and therefore wrote some of the posts that angererd ‘Poatan.’

“I don’t know Alex personally. But, I am Team Magomed Ankalaev. Whatever I can do to help him, I will do it. As long as I don’t insult someone’s family, religion, or his nation. Everything Ankalaev said on his social media, he approved it. And if I did help him, it was his knowledge,” Abdelaziz said in his post-fight statement. This was in response to Pereira saying managers sometimes talk a little too much when it’s the fighter who fights in the cage.
This just goes to show how things can change in a matter of seconds. A few months ago, it was Ankalaev celebrating; now, it’s Pereira. As the Brazilian continues his victory lap, even in the trading cards, what do you think the future holds for the Russian?
