Back in 2009, Joe Rogan had an incredible idea: to start a podcast where he could engage in informal discourses and broadcast it to the world. At the time, Rogan believed podcasting would become the next big thing in the modern era of content consumption, stating, “This is the future. The future is artist being in control of their own s–t. You’re not going to have to be scared of saying something.”—and he was absolutely right. His multi-million-dollar podcast turned out to be a spot-on bet. Years after his content endeavor, many high-profile people have become his fans including tech mogul, Elon Musk.

Fairly recently, internet personality, Mario Nawfal took to his X handle to add a long post thanking Joe Rogan for reshaping the content world forever. The man with a million followers stated that Rogan’s ability to form consistent long-form content with hotshots around the world has made it easier for others to follow the same, “@JoeRogan ’s ability to host long-form conversations with guests ranging from scientists and comedians to politicians and philosophers has reshaped modern discourse, fostering thoughtful exploration of complex topics in an age dominated by soundbites.”

He further added, “Listening to him, you can sense his authenticity and open-mindedness, creating space for challenging ideas and alternative voices. By democratizing information and sparking curiosity, the podcast has redefined digital media, proving that open dialogue is key to societal progress. Rogan isn’t just connecting individuals—he’s reshaping how we listen, learn, and engage.”

Nawfal’s comments about Joe Rogan strongly resonated with Elon Musk, who has appeared on the ‘JRE’ podcast five times. In responding to Nawfel’s post Musk had only one thing to say, ‘True.’ Elon Musk and Rogan’s conversation has always pulled in massive views for the podcaster and in addition to that, the tech mogul personal’s brand gained a lot of traction after he visited the podcast. In a recent development, Elon Musk and Joe Rogan might join hands to take on the mainstream media landscape. How? Let’s find out.

MSNBC might find Elon Musk and Joe Rogan working together

MSNBC is on the verge of being sold as its parent company is looking to let go of the platform. This piqued the interest of Elon Musk, as he now wants to enter the $1,619 Billion mainstream media industry, as an ‘agent of social change’. Joe Rogan humorously joined in, suggesting he could take over Rachel Maddow’s role on MSNBC. Rogan posted on X (formerly Twitter), “If you buy MSNBC, I’d like Rachel Maddow’s job. I’ll wear the same outfit, and glasses, and tell the same lies.”

Elon Musk quickly responded, expressing excitement with, “How amazing would this be?” Well, Maddow is popular among the masses for hosting The Rachel Maddow Show, where she reportedly earns a massive $25 million annually. Rogan might be looking to do the exact same thing as he implied that he could replicate her style.

Joe Rogan and Elon Musk have long been vehement critics of the traditional media landscape for its ‘biased’ reporting, particularly with firebrand outsiders entering the political landscape. The reason podcasting exists in the first place is because of the partisan nature of mainstream media outlets. If Elon Musk were to buy MSNBC, it could massively disrupt traditional media and set a new precedence for how information is consumed on prime-time television.
