On a fine Monday morning in April 2023, Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott called Tucker Carlson to deliver news that would not only shatter their TRP ratings but also shake the entire media world. In a corporate tone, Scott said, “We’re taking you off the air.” Shocked by her words, Carlson couldn’t fathom what had just happened. He was not only at the top of Fox News but also a dominant force in digital media. Well, approximately two years have passed since that incident, and Carlson is much bigger now than his Fox days and Joe Rogan understands it a bit too well.

To give you a perspective on how big of a decision it was for Fox News Media to lay Tucker Carlson off, imagine this, it was like somebody canceling Stranger Things from Netflix ahead of their last season or rescheduling the Eagles vs. Chiefs final. Since his departure, Tucker Carlson started his own podcasting channel as well as became a dominant force in the digital world again, but his time was on his own.

At the JRE Fight Companion – on February 8, 2025, Brendan Schaub touched on the topic of Carlson as he stated that the former Fox employee has become a big star on his own, to which Joe Rogan chimed in to state that he was the only man who kept Fox Media going, “Towards the end of his run, he was like the only guy on the news talking about real s—.”

He further added, “And you know, talking about things that were very controversial and people did not want him talking about. That’s why they fired him, right? They fired him when he was at the top. That’s what’s crazy—he was the number one guy on Fox. That was the Dominion, though. But it was a lot of different things. There were multiple different—I mean, no one was happy.”

To give you a small fact: As soon as the news hit Wall Street in 2023, Fox Corp’s stocks were badly hit, wiping nearly a billion dollars from the market due to Carlson’s exit. Given that, their stocks have been performing well recently. Well, Carlson is a brand on his own and interestingly, he even toppled Joe Rogan multiple times.

Tucker Carlson briefly overtook Joe Rogan last year

After being laid off from Fox Media, Tucker Carlson didn’t let his journalism career come to a halt. Instead, he launched the Tucker Carlson Network, a platform hosting various conservative programs, including Tucker Carlson Uncensored, and shows from other prominent voices. In May 2024, he also debuted The Tucker Carlson Show, a weekly podcast available in both audio and video formats. With a following of more than 3 million subscribers on his YouTube handle, Carlson did make waves in the podcasting world briefly challenging Joe Rogan’s dominance.

As soon as he announced his podcasting journey, Tucker Carlson’s stocks blew off the roofs as his initial episodes even left Joe Rogan behind as back in July last year, The Tucker Carlson Show was ranked #1st at the Spotify charts followed by ‘Joe Rogan Experience’ in the second. Well, this was short-lived as “JRE” again stood at the pinnacle of the Spotify charts.

In light of that, Tucker Carlson is now more steadfast as well as conservative in his own YouTube handle as he calls upon guests from various fields to have a chat. Well, what are your thoughts on his journey? State your thoughts in the comments below.
