UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal took to Twitter and shared his immediate reaction to some recent statements made by UFC President Dana White. The long-time boss of the UFC is feuding with YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul, providing sound bites for the media. Both men issued challenges to each other, and it seems like their beef is only escalating.

Dana White recently trashed Jake Paul for his pay-per-view buy rate that merely touched 65K for his recent scrap. White put forth Jorge Masvidal’s career resurgence as an example of star power given that Masvidal sold 1.5 M PPVs at UFC 251.

“What you and the warlock should be focused on is your business. You’re tanking. You can’t sell PPVs. You’re calling out Jorge Masvidal because he’s a pay-per-view superstar.”

However, Jorge Masvidal believes the recognition coming in from his boss may just be a day late and a dollar short. He laughed off White’s compliments and said that it came in about 4 years later than it should have.

Is Jorge Masvidal still a massive PPV draw?

Ever since he starched Darren Till at UFC London back in 2019, Masvidal’s stock has only risen exponentially. He earned the 2019 ‘Knockout of the Year’ after he managed to earn the fastest KO in UFC history over Ben Askren. He also snagged the exclusive ‘BMF’ belt against Nate Diaz towards the end of the year.

However, things have gone downhill for Jorge Masvidal since then as he’s now 0-2 in title fights against Kamaru Usman. Not to mention, he was violently knocked out for the first time in his long career that spans 50 professional bouts. The tables truly turned on him as Usman earned the 2021 ‘Knockout of the Year’ award for one-punching Masvidal.

Fans have now started wondering if Masvidal will remain a massive draw at the box office going forward as well. It’s unclear how he is perceived by the casual fanbase after losing two fights decisively in a row. His next fight will be a huge indication as to ‘Gamebred’s’ star power heading into the sunset years of his career.

However, there are still some massive fights out there for him that will sell regardless of the way fans view him. Colby Covington, Leon Edwards are just some fighters who have a deep-seated storyline with the Miami native.
