Lawler vs. Barberena was initially slated for the prelims

The UFC had put the Miesha Tate vs. Lauren Murphy bout on the main card. But because of some unfortunate circumstance, that contest got pushed away. Since it was a five-bout card, the promotion shifted the former welterweight champion, Robbie Lawler & a welterweight prospect, Bryan Barberena to the main card.

Looking at how the contest fared, the decision panned out well for the UFC.

Barberena, taking all the damaging shots from ‘Ruthless’ but staying composed eventually to finish the bout, was a thing of beauty. Despite all the efforts from Lawler, ‘Bam Bam’ stayed in his face and got the job done. Thus, with a win over a former UFC champion, big things are awaiting him in the welterweight division.
