Outclassed by Alex Pereira, Jamahal Hill Targets Jiri Prochazka Defending UFC 300 Humiliation

Jamahal Hill wants to fight Jiri Prochazka next. The Chicago native, who had mauled Alex Pereira‘s coach and dear friend, Glover Teixeira at their UFC 283 bout to win the light heavyweight title had vacated it last year following an injury. However, his attempt to reclaim the light 205-pound throne fell short as he fell to the Brazilian champion within a round at their UFC 300 title clash on Saturday night.

Now ‘Sweet Dreams’ has taken to Twitter, reacting to his UFC 300 loss to Alex Pereria, and called on Prochazka to face him next. “I dared to be great against adversity and against a great challenge and came up short at the highest level in the world!!! I answered the call twice on short notice to fight for a championship that most will never fight for!!! On to the next @jiri_bjp least final make it happen!!” Hill tweeted.

In addition, the former champion told his supporters he was in a good state of mind and promised to come back stronger and shut up his critics. “To the people that support me I’m good don’t let haters get to you I’m winning in life so having to eat a lose like a man is what it is!! They will be quite when the next man drops,” he wrote in a reply to his original tweet. But, the matchup seems unlikely given the 205-pound landscape.

Why Hill-Prochazka is unlikely to be next

Jiri Prochazka was originally supposed to rematch Glover Teixeira at UFC 283. However, ‘BJP’ had to pull out due to a serious shoulder injury and chose to honorably vacate the title so as to not hold up the division.

Jamahal Hill stepped in on short notice as ‘BJP’s replacement. He, of course, went on to dominate (and retire) the remarkably durable Teixeira for five rounds to emerge as the new 205-pound king. Jiri Prochazka subsequently made a video amid a snow-capped background, declaring that he was “coming for” Hill after he recovers.

‘Sweet Dreams’, known for his excellent sense of humor, responded to Prochazka with his own video. The Michigan resident, in a similar snowy background, looking around and asked sarcastically “where you at?”

A fight between them had been the most-awaited light heavyweight bout since then, until Alex Pereira decided to move up to the UFC’s second heaviest division. Since then, both have lost to Pereira (Prochazka lost to ‘Poatan’ in their title bout at UFC 295 last year).

And after Hill lost to the Brazilian at UFC 300, he has challenged ‘BJP’ to a fight once again. However, given that Prochazka won his bout against Aleksandar Rakic won on the same card, it is unlikely they will face each other soon. This is because they are the top ranked guys in the division and the winner would have a very good case to rematch Pereira for the title.

And since they have both lost to the champion within an year, the UFC will not be looking for them to fight again for the title after just one fight. Hill’s most likely next opponent looks to be Rakic, while who Prochazka faces next is a lot more ambiguous. However, given that matchmaking is entirely in the hands of Dana White and the UFC, anything can happen. Including a Jamahal Hill vs. Jiri Prochazka bout next.

What do you think about a possible Jamahal Hill vs. Jiri Prochazka bout next?
