In the list shared online, Holloway sits just below long-time featherweight rival, Alexander Volkanovski who is at the number 7 spot. But he has now skipped past middleweight champion, Dricus Du Plessis, and flyweight champion, Alexandre Pantoja after laying Justin Gaethje with a knockout for the ages.

And Alex Pereira, who knocked out Jamahal Hill to defend his light-heavyweight crown at UFC 300 still holds the number 4 spot on the list, with Islam Makhachev, Jon Jones, and Leon Edwards coming in ahead of him at the number 1, 2, and 3 spots respectively.

As the dust settles from UFC 300, Holloway and Pereira’s remarkable achievements underscore the event’s significance in shaping the landscape of mixed martial arts and how it will impact the UFC going forward. But the UFC featherweight champion has now got his eyes on ‘Blessed’ as they might face each other inside the Octagon soon!

Ilia Topuria sends a message to Holloway after UFC 300

Following his stunning knockout victory over Justin Gaethje at UFC 300, Max Holloway reiterated his desire for a matchup against featherweight champion Ilia Topuria, a fight he had been vocal about throughout the fight week.

And ‘El Matador’ responded in an interview with ESPN by stating, “It’s clear for me, my next fight is against Max Holloway, congratulations and enjoy tonight, but after fighting me he will have to go back in the line.”

While Holloway has come up short in his quest to regain his featherweight throne against former champion Alexander Volkanovski 3 times, he revealed in his post-fight presser interview that he now feels like he has a chance to end Topuria’s reign.

He stated, “…he’s a killer, but like I said all fight week, we’ve got questions. There’s a lot of questions about the guy and I want to figure that out.” ‘Blessed’s record in the featherweight division also adds more layers to the matchup as he has only lost to Volkanovski in the 145 lbs weight class ever since their first encounter.
