Former UFC fighter Paige VanZant chimed in on the Russia-Ukraine crisis as a champion from her husband’s MMA promotion, Bellator MMA, was seen showing off his belt while at ground zero.

The Russian-Ukraine conflict has witnessed many fighters from Ukrainian roots return to their country to help in relief and defense efforts. One of them was Bellator welterweight champion Yaroslav Amosov.

The ace mixed martial artist was recently seen visiting the rubble of his house in Ukraine. Here, the champion found his Bellator welterweight strap that his mother hid in their basement so that it didn’t get destroyed during the conflict.

Bellator supremo Scott Coker shared the video of Amosov finding his belt and then cherishing it. “I’m speechless -@YaroslavAmosov is a warrior,” Coker captioned the video.

In the incredible video, Amosov could be heard describing the circumstances in which he found his strap. “A belt with a big story! Now I won’t give it away for sure. My mom hid it safely and it survived the bombings,” fans could hear Amosov saying in the video.

It was reported that Amosov returned to his nation after canceling a fight. This earned recognition from ex-UFC fighter Paige VanZant.

Paige VanZant hails Bellator champion

’12 Gauge’ Paige VanZant couldn’t help but appreciate Amosov’s effort. In her Instagram story, VanZant hailed Amosov, writing, “Your Bellator MMA champ”, and in another story, she called Amosov a “Fighter turned Hero.”

 The young combat sports talent is connected to Bellator MMA via her husband Austin Vanderford, who is a former middleweight title challenger. Vanderford recently locked horns with Bellator’s undisputed middleweight champion. However, ‘The Gentleman’ lost to Gegard Mousasi via a first-round TKO.

As for VanZant herself, the 28-year-old is currently signed with Bare Knuckle FC after retiring from the UFC. Also, VanZant recently joined pro-wrestling promotion AEW.
