Jamahal Hill was on a hiatus from the fighting world after he injured his Achilles tendon in his fight against Glover Teixeria. However, ‘Sweet Dreams’ returned to the octagon to headline the UFC 300 event and snatch his relinquished belt from the hands of champion Alex Pereira. Jamahal Hill tried to maintain dominance in the first round but Pereira had a better plan with him as he knocked out the former champion in the very first round to defend his belt successfully.

Pereira had initially planned for a full five-round main event fight. However, due to the disrespect he faced at the UFC 300 pre-fight presser, Pereira decided to end the match as soon as possible. Former UFC fighter, Ben Askren believes that Hill was a bit overconfident in his approach to face ‘Poatan’.“My general feeling on that fight, I thought Jamahal Hill was a little too confident, saying he could stand with him,” Askren said. “I feel like he disregarded how hard Pereira hits.”

It’s only been days since Hill’s last knockout loss, and It seems like ‘Sweet Dreams’ is not in the mood to stop. The former champion, through his social media, asserted that the UFC admin should book a fight between him and Jiri Prochazka as the fans demanded it and it seems like Dana White heard him but with a different opponent.

Dana White booked Jamahal Hill to fight against Khalil Rountree at the UFC’s International Fight Week on June 29 alongside Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler. The match is specifically dangerous for Hill, as Rountree is not someone who should be taken lightly inside the Octagon. Nonetheless, White’s decision to book Hill right after the knockout got love, appreciation, and a word of warning from the fans.

Khalil Rountree boasts a stable record of 14-5-0 in his career. However, what should truly unsettle his opponents is that out of those 14 victories, 10 were secured by knockout. Even more impressively, out of those 10 knockout victories, 7 were first-round finishes. Rountree’s statistics speak for himself as an absolute demon of an opponent.
