Paulo Costa vs Robert Whittaker

Aaron Bronsteter from TSN Sports reported that Paulo Costa’s manager had disclosed that talks with the UFC are currently underway. According to Wallid Ismail, Borrachinha’s manager, the only thing left is for Robert Whittaker to put pen to paper.

The fight is supposedly scheduled for March next year. As per Ismail, there is the possibility that the fight could potentially be for the UFC interim middleweight title.

Current champion Israel Adesanya is in pursuit of the 205 title. Jan Blachowicz captured the vacated UFC light heavyweight title on the same card as Stylebender. Now Izzy looks to move up to 205 and test himself as he looks to become the next dual division champ.

‘Borrachinha’ suffered the first defeat of his career in September to Israel Adesanya. Both fighters went into the fight with undefeated records and eventually, it was Adesanya who came out on top.

Scheduled for March 2021

Robert Whittaker has already held the belt at middleweight. Due to injuries and back-to-back wars with Yoel Romero, Whittaker, going into the Adesanya fight, was a far cry from his best.

However, things are different now as The Reaper has 2 consecutive wins against Darren Till and Jared Cannonier. He is now looking to get back into title contention.

March could see the world heavyweight championship on the line. Stipe Miocic has been out of competition since his trilogy win against Daniel Cormier in August. #1 contender Francis Ngannou has been waiting patiently for his rematch.

The Predator has recorded 4 1st round KOs since he lost to the champion, paving his way to a fight against Miocic. A fight between Paulo Costa and Robert Whittaker would serve as a great co-main event for the card.
