Jorge Masvidal is one of the biggest stars in the MMA world. He made his professional debut way back in 2003 and joined the UFC in 2012. However, he became a crowd favorite after his 5 second knockout of the then-undefeated Ben Askren. ‘Funky’ was 19-0 coming into the fight, and ‘Gamebred’ landed a flying knee as soon as the fight started to create UFC history.

Recently, UFC legend Chael Sonnen said that Jorge Masvidal is the second biggest star in the sport, and needs to be arrogant. He also said that he wasn’t sure that Masvidal needs to fight Covington, and there are other big things for him out there.

Masvidal took to Twitter to reply to Sonnen’s comments. He said, I just like to fight. The opponent hasn’t mattered since that 1 day I was McDonald’s drive thru ordering and got the call to fight in a backyard against a guy 40 pounds heavier than me. Pay me and King Kong can get it.”

In the tweet, he referred to the call he got for a street fight.

Masvidal was booked to fight Leon Edwards to fight at UFC 269. Unfortunately, he had to back out because of an injury. Since the news of him backing out has broken, Colby Covington has been lobbying to fight him.

Both have shown an interest in coaching a season of The Ultimate Fighter and it would make for a great story. ‘Gamebred’ and ‘Chaos’ used to be best friends and roommates before everything fell off, and now the two keep taking shots at each other.

Jorge Masvidal’s street fighting career

Masvidal is one of the biggest names in combat sports today. He is a big draw, brings in eyeballs, and people love to watch him fight. However, everything was not like this for him since the start. Early in his life, he got into street fighting to earn money.

Kimbo Slice used to have brutal bare-knuckle street fights in his backyard in the early days and Masvidal also got involved in that. He ran into Kimbo in a gym and was asked by the bare-knuckle man if he was down to fight.
