UFC Vegas 91 saw fans having flashbacks to the recent UFC 300 ‘BMF’ moment by Max Holloway against Justin Gaethje! The fight card saw 4 ‘Performance of the Night’ bonuses being handed out to the fighters but according to the comments online, UFC CEO Dana White might have overlooked a few deserving contenders for the ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus.

Fans watching the main card for the event were treated to multiple finish victories by Alex Perez, Bogdan Guskov, Jhonata Diniz and Uros Medic.  It’s interesting to note that Perez managed to secure his first win inside the Octagon since 2020 as he had been on a 3-fight losing streak before he finished Matheus Nicolau in the second round with a vicious knockout in Vegas.

Bogdan Guskov also made a statement in the light-heavyweight division as he finished Ryan Spann in the second round but not without some early difficulty. He found Spann’s clinch and wrestling game to be a significant obstacle and ‘Superman’ even attacked Guskov with a choke attempt in the first round. However, the tides turned in the second round as Guskov showcased his striking acumen and dropped him to the canvas and followed up with vicious ground and pound to close out the show.

But the finish did have some controversy as many experts and fans online pointed out that referee Herb Dean should have stopped the fight sooner than he did. Neverthless, Guskov was awarded the ‘POTN’ bonus for his performance on the night. But the fight between David Onama and Jonathan Pearce was the prime contender for the bonus according to the fandom, despite a lack of a finish in the bout. Here’s how the netizens reacted to the UFC Vegas bonus list shared on social media.

Fans claim UFC Vegas 91 fighters “robbed” of bonus

Fans pointed out that Onama and Pearce put on a bonus worthy showing and overshadowed most of the other fights on the card

There were also calls of a perceived “robbery” as the fans rallied behind Onama and Pearce who took a page out of Gaethje and Holloway’s book and threw caution to the wind as they engaged in a straight-up firefight at the end of the final round

However, as one fan rightfully pointed out, Onama had missed weight ahead of the clash, and as such, the bout was ineligible for the bonus according to the rules of the UFC

Some even called for Jose Padilla to be the rightful victor of the bonus as they pointed out the fact that he came into his fight on short notice and as a massive underdog

But for other fans, Onama and Pearce were “easily” one of the prime contenders for the FOTN bonus

However, Uros Medic, who won his welterweight clash against Tim Means, apparently found himself getting caught in the cross-fire of humorous jabs by the fans about his hairline
