The partnership between the UFC and the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) will come to an end after 2023 is wrapped up. Thereafter, Dana White‘s promotion will have Drug Free Sport International as their new anti-doping partner. Since 2015, the UFC athletes have been subject to drug testing with USADA. It acted as the promotion’s official and independent testing agency. Derek joined Joe Rogan on the recent episode of the ‘Joe Rogan Experience’. He told the JRE host that he believes if Dana White decides to employ the same strategy with Drug Free Sport International that the UFC had with USADA and follow the same banned substances list, the drug testing process could be similar. However, Derek also mentioned that Jeff Novitzky recently announced that there will be more frequent testing from now on.

“I think Novitzky said they’re gonna up their frequency of testing,” said Derek. He also mentioned that everything comes down to how much budget is allocated for these tests that ensure economic advantage. The PED expert added, “Some of this stuff at the end of the day, there’s only so much budget to allocate to where it’s still a viable economic thing.”

Recalling the instances of USADA’s testing frequency, Derek also recalled how they tested Jiri Prochazka so many times that he became the most-tested athlete in 2022. He said, “Some people are tested like, I don’t know. I forgot what Jiri [Prochazka] was tested. It was like some insane amount of times per year.”

But the fitness expert understands that everything comes down to it being an economically feasible option. You got to have some reproducible economically viable strategy,” said Derek. All that being said, who is the UFC’s new partner, Drug Free Sport International? What is their reputation that earned them the UFC’s contract?
