Bo Nickal lived up to the hype as one of the most exciting prospects in the promotion at UFC 285. The three-time NCAA Division I national champion showcased his grappling prowess in the octagon, securing a first-round win via submission with an arm-triangle choke that forced Jamie Pickett to tap out. Nickal‘s impressive victory grabbed the attention of the MMA community, and the 27-year-old couldn’t have imagined a better start to his UFC career. However, it seems that Nickal has gotten himself into hot water with his spectacular win.
Nickal‘s intentions were clear from the opening sequence of the fight. He wanted to take the fight to the ground and utilize his wrestling skills. He engaged in the clinch early and eventually got Pickett in a headlock to take his back. After executing a brilliant takedown, Nickal wasted no time establishing top control and pinning Pickett against the cage. Despite Pickett‘s impressive defense, Nickal continued to work hard for an arm-triangle choke, which eventually led to Pickett tapping out.
