The current interim UFC bantamweight champion, Petr Yan, is back at his training camp.
The Russian fighter, who won the interim title at UFC 267 against Cory Sandhagen is preparing for his title unification bout. Aljamain Sterling is the current UFC bantamweight champion. However, he’s been out of action since his first fight against Petr Yan. Yan and Sterling were supposed to fight each other at UFC 267. But Sterling withdrew from the bout because of lingering neck issues from the surgery.
Yan and Sandhagen went the full five rounds and put on a show for the fans in the title fight. The Russian put on a striking clinic against a very tough opponent. The next fight for him is definitely going to be the title unification fight against ‘Funk Master.’ And it seems like Yan is already in the camp, working on his game.

Aljamain Sterling wants Petr Yan in January or February
Ever since the first fight between Yan and Sterling ended in controversy, people have been wanting a rematch. In the first fight, defending champion Yan hit Sterling with an illegal knee, which led to him relinquishing the title. Since then, Sterling hasn’t fought, and the fight fans at every opportunity have trolled him or gone after him.
After Yan defeated Sandhagen for the interim title, Sterling in an interview said that he wants to fight ‘No Mercy‘ in January or February. Talking to TMZ Sports, he said, “Yeah, I texted a matchmaker right after that fight happened, and I said January or February. And I said, let me know and he said, we’ll see what we’re gonna do come Tuesday. I told him, that’s fine by me, we’ll be here at MSG on Tuesday for Al Iaquinta’s fight, fighting Bobby Green at UFC 268. So, pretty much that’s when I’m looking to get back in there. I don’t want to wait another year.”
