UFC interim bantamweight champion Petr Yan faced troubles in getting into the U.S. Though he will make it to the UFC 273, it appears his coaches/corner will not be able to make it.

Hence, as Yan is looking for someone to corner him, he has put in a request to ‘ Triple C’ Henry Cejudo. ‘No Mercy’ wrote, “Hey, coach @HenryCejudo what are your plans on April 9th?”

However, it could be more of a sarcastic ask from ‘No Mercy‘ as, earlier, both the mixed martial artists had shown an interest in fighting each other.

That said, Henry Cejudo has retired from the sport and has transitioned well into a role of a coach. ‘The Messenger’ has led many fighters to recent success inside the octagon. One of the prime examples is Deiveson Figueiredo, who beat Brandon Moreno at UFC 270.

How Did Former UFC Champion Jose Aldo Get the Crazy Scar on His Face?

Though Yan looked to run through Sterling in the first fight, ‘Funkmaster’ is a tough out for anybody in the bantamweight division. Looking at Sterling’s performance against someone of the caliber of Cory Sandhagen, who had a close fight with ‘No Mercy’, an upset should not be surprising.

Hence, Yan certainly requires a good corner team as he is looking to unify the UFC bantamweight championship against a dangerous name. Thus, going without good coaches/corners could be catastrophic in a match of this magnitude.

Petr Yan vs. Aljamain Sterling must happen at UFC 273

The way Aljamain Sterling won the championship was unfortunate. Even ‘Funkmaster‘ was not cheerful about getting the belt via disqualification. That said, rules are placed for a reason, and regardless, Sterling is the UFC bantamweight champion.

Given the events of UFC 259, the Russian bantamweight believes he is the best 135 pounder of the lot. After missing out on an opportunity to prove it to the world at UFC 267 (Sandhagen slotted in for an interim fight as Sterling withdrew), ‘No Mercy’ will not want any more delays.

Thus, this unification bout needs to happen as soon as possible to provide clarity in the bantamweight division moving forward.
