The Islam Makhachev vs. Charles Oliveira fight approaches, but Khabib Nurmagomedov hasn’t moved an inch. The rematch between the two is one of the most anticipated fights of this year. Especially considering not a lot of pay-per-views are left for 2023. The rematch has been a long time coming and fans are as excited as they could be, but there is just one problem.

Set for October this year, the fight will go down at UFC 294 as the main event. It will be nearly the one-year anniversary of Makhachev taking the belt away from Oliveira. Specifically, it will be a chance at redemption for Do Bronx, but will he be able to clinch it? Maybe without Khabib in his corner, Makhachev could fall a bit weak. Unless, of course, the fans have something to say about it.

Khabib won’t be in Islam Makhachev’s corner at UFC 294

Khabib Nurmagomedov dominated the division for a long time. He tore down giants like Conor McGregor multiple times and held the title as well. However, once his father passed away, Nurmagomedov decided that it was time to hang up his gloves. The now-retired fighter wants to focus on his family.

But he did make a comeback. Albeit, it wasn’t inside the cage. His teammate and brotherly figure Islam Makhachev needed some guidance, and he was there for it. Khabib was the voice that guided him to victory. However, this time around, the retired fighter has promised that the champion will be on his own. His decision has fans asking him to change his mind and actually show up to the corner.

Fans urge Khabib to go to the Islam Makhachev fight

Fans can be a celebrity’s soft spot. However, for fighters like Khabib, it may or may not hold true. Especially once he’s made such a vital decision about his personal and professional life. Either way, fans rallied behind ‘The Eagle’ under his Instagram post, asking him to guide Islam Makhachev to earn his title defense victory.

While some fans asked Khabib, others demanded it.

“PLEASE CORNER ISLAM IN THE FIGHT”

Others tried to pull at Khabib’s heartstrings, saying that Makhachev had been in his corner for him.

“Bro you have to be in the fight camp with Islam. He was always there for you”

One fan was hoping that Khabib could help train Makhachev ahead of his fight.

“M’y bruh you have to teach Islam”

While some just cheered for Islam and asked Khabib to be in his corner, others wanted ‘The Eagle’ back in the cage himself.

“We need you back your the real champ”

Despite Khabib hanging up his gloves, some were hoping he would still make a return.

“Come back bro”

It looks like Khabib being in the corner for Makhachev really matters for the fans. Maybe it’s the nostalgia or maybe just a reason to see their favorite close to the octagon again. Either way, ‘The Eagle’ has not made any announcements about it yet, apart from telling everyone that he wouldn’t be there. Fans must know how determined the fighter can get, so is there truly any way to persuade him? Perhaps if Makhachev was fighting some notorious Irishman, the picture could have been different.
