The UFC 295 card wrapped up, being one of the most thrilling cards of 2023. There were 5 fights on the main card and none of them went past round 2. The fights lived up to the hype. The main event had Jiří Procházka fighting Alex Pereira for the vacant UFC light heavyweight strap. Pereira came out on top after a chaotic chess match-like fight inside the Octagon. However, Islam Makhachev shared a different opinion on the fight.

Although Pereira’s win had fans talking about his impressive performance against Procházka, Makhachev was one customer who was not impressed. The lightweight champ took to Twitter to voice out his opinions, stating in the tweet, “Ankalaev skills it’s a different level”. Fans, however, didn’t take the ill-timed tweet too lightly.

It’s not uncommon for fighters to call each other out after a fight. But, the UFC lightweight champ hyping up Magomed Ankalaev could not have been timed any worse. Makhachev’s teammate and Bellator champion, Usman Nurmagomedov tested positive for an illegal substance just hours earlier.

The no. 1 ranked PFP UFC fighter came under fire after the tweet. Fans started to troll Makhachev and his teammates with doping allegations. Maybe the tweet wouldn’t have garnered so much attention if not for Usman Nurmagomedov’s earlier news. Here are some of the comments from the tweet.

Fans didn’t want any disrespect on Pereira’s name after the masterclass performance against Prochazka. Pereira has slowly started to become a fan favorite in the sport and for good reasons. However, how would the new lightweight fare up against the Russian light heavyweight?

Alex Pereira, in light heavyweight, seemed almost as impressive as he did in middleweight. Even though he could still improve his takedown defense, he still surprised fans with his defense on the ground. With the weight cut being easier, his performance will be better and his power certainly translates to 205 lbs as he proved against Prochazka.

Magomed Ankalaev does have a more well-rounded game and will probably be a problem for Pereira if he’s able to keep him on the ground. But if he can’t, Pereira has the skills to dismantle almost anyone in the light heavyweight division.
