The UFC just decided to drop one of their most fun social media posts in recent times – the Dana White-led promotion just revealed the New Year resolutions of our favorite fighters. Taking to their Instagram, the biggest MMA promotion in the world posted pictures of them asking fighters about their New Year’s resolutions. The answers were surely some of the most fun ones that you could imagine.
Starting with Sean O’Malley, the man who definitely did not enjoy 2024. After all, this year the 29-year-old fighter said goodbye to the 135-pound belt by losing a unanimous decision to Merab Dvalishvili at the Sphere in Las Vegas. After the fight, it was reported that O’Malley, 10–2–1 in the UFC, will be out for about a year as the fighter will undergo hip surgery. So vowing for a comeback for the ages, ‘Suga’ claimed that he would not be having intercourse until his next fight. His message read, “No s*x til next fight.” However, he wasn’t the only fighter who had a rough year. Another name on the list was that of Sean Strickland.
‘Tarzan’ lost his middleweight belt in January 2024 when Dricus du Plessis won the fight via unanimous decision. Since then, Strickland fought hard and retained his place in the top 3 of the ranking by beating Paulo Costa by split decision in the co-main event of UFC 302. With a record of 4-1 in his last five fights, many expected that Sean Strickland would say something really motivating as his resolution. Especially he is now booked to fight Dricus du Plessis at UFC 312 to reclaim the throne that he once lost. Instead, the fighter claimed that New Year’s resolutions are for women and children and he would not make one. “I’m a grown a** man. New years resolutions are for women and children…is that acceptable?”

However, not everyone was as brash as the two above when it came to their replies. UFC Bantamweight Kayla Harrison claimed that she prefers setting up goals rather than resolutions. So her current resolution is to become the bantamweight champion of her division. Although she currently finds herself in the #7 spot in the rankings, so maybe two convincing fights would be enough to bring her in the top 3 of the list. On the contrary, Merab Dvalishvili desired more on his personal front. The UFC Bantamweight champion expressed his desire to spend more time with his family in Georgia. However, these weren’t the only words that the champion shared, as he joined other commenters to share his thoughts on the post.

Fight world shares hilarious reaction to top UFC stars’ 2025 resolutions
As soon as the post hit the internet, the fight world made sure that it was showered with a lot of love and humor. One of the jokesters at the very front was the Bantamweight champion. Taking to the comment section, Merab Dvalishvili trolled Sean O’Malley by asking him to not follow through on his resolution and to do more cardio. He wrote, “Hey Sean O’Malley- that is a weak move – you could use way more cardio training ! 🤣.
UFC analyst and former fighter Din Thomas also used Sean O’Malley’s resolution to indulge in some self-deprecating humor instead. He wrote, “I have the same resolution as @sugasean. Problem is I’m retired.” However, not everyone was fixated on Sean O’Malley. Some users were amazed at how Sean Strickland manages to keep the same attitude, whether it be inside the Octagon or outside, through text or in person. Taking to the comments, the fans wrote, “That just sounds like something Strickland would say” “Most Strickland response ever,” and “100% expected that from Strickland😂” However, one user felt that Strickland sounded more insecure than savage. “Strickland sounds so insecure lately.”

Another response that perfectly fit the character of the fighter was that of Shavkat Rakhmonov. Known for keeping his life private and speaking no more than what is required, he answered the UFC’s question with a simple, ‘No.’ This reply truly stole the show, as it was evident in the comments. The users shared, “Gotta love Sean Strickland, but shavkat’s was great,” “UFC didn’t even ask Merab; he sent that on his own behalf,” and “These are hilarious.“ No, “I’m 💀 hahahaha.”
