The 2022 Academy awards was incredible. All the biggest names in Hollywood were in attendance for the event. However, the event’s spotlight went for something apart from the usual proceedings of the event. Henry Cejudo compared the recent scuffle to Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal’s one.
Social media erupted after the renowned actor Will Smith slapped stand-up comedian Chris Rock on the Oscars stage. This was after the latter made a joke about Smith’s wife. The actor did not take it well and proceeded to go up to the stage to slap the award host in front of hundreds in attendance.

UFC welterweight Belal Muhammad, however, thought that both Rock and Covington were in the same boat. UFC middleweight Sean Strickland and PFL welterweight Jake Shields also tweeted, comparing Smith-Rock situation to Covington’s.
Lmao!!!!!!!!! If that was @ColbyCovMMA he would of been on the phone calling 911 while trying to give Trump a hand job. Well played @chrisrock. You took that shit like a man… You should catch him in the parking lot lol pic.twitter.com/4Cznq3il3l

Is the Smith-Rock incident similar to the Colby Covington-Jorge Masvidal scuffle?
In the case of the Oscars incident, Will Smith was the aggressor who slapped Chris Rock. Most personalities, including Triple C, are coming to support Rock against Will Smith. Triple C and the others, however, seem to side with Masvidal a lot more when it comes to the scuffle between the two welterweights.

The dynamics and storyline of both issues were poles apart. Rock made a joke about Smith’s wife, which led to him getting humiliated in front of millions on live television.
However, in the UFC superstars’ case, Covington was assaulted by Jorge Masvidal after he made explicit comments about his personal life on the media. This is what led to Masvidal attacking Covington outside the Papi Steak restaurant in Miami.
