Yair Rodriguez submitted Josh Emmett at UFC 284 to win the UFC interim featherweight title. Rodriguez and Emmett locked horns in the co-main event of UFC 284. “El Pantera” and “CCO” started off strong, throwing a variety of strikes and landing big. The Mexican’s versatility and range troubled Emmett but he made up for it with his raw power. However, once the fight went to the ground towards the end of the second round, Rodriguez locked in a triangle choke and Emmett had no choice but to tap.

Emmett came into the fight with a perfect five-out-of-five win streak. The 37-year-old’s last win came via split decision against fellow featherweight Calvin Kattar.
