Drew Dober is back at it again and he just doesn’t miss. The Omaha-born striker went up against Rick Glenn at the recent UFC Fight Night event and emerged victorious. The fight did not last longer than one round, in fact, it did not even last three whole minutes. With this win at UFC Vegas 80, Dober has broken a new knockout record in grand fashion.

The fight had his newborn daughter and wife in the audience. Fans believed the new dad’s strength had a lot to do with Dober’s win against Glenn. However, during this fight, some things went sideways and fans were not happy about it. Drew Dober was about to land a few finishing blows when his opponent made an illegal move.

During the fight, Dober landed some pretty nasty shots to Glenn’s face. Early on around the two-minute mark, Dober managed to smash his fist in Glenn’s face hard enough for the fighter to go toppling downwards. However, just as Dober was about to try and finish things off, Glenn grabbed his glove. Grabbing your opponent’s glove is as illegal a move as it gets and fans on Twitter were not happy. Here are some reactions.

Fans were outraged at the blatant cheating attempt, especially after Glenn taunted Dober mid-fight after doing so. The backlash was brutal.

Clearly, fans were not very impressed by the blatant cheating attempts. Even Dober was taken aback and instantly voiced his frustration which was registered by the ref as well as the casters. Glenn soon got back to his feet and the fight began again just for him to take a few hits to the head. Later, a barrage of fists ended the fight with the ref jumping over Glenn to bring the fight to a stop.

Perhaps the fans would have been even angrier if Glenn had won after trying to cheat. However, that clearly did not come to pass. Dober gave the fighter just about no chance to overcome his pressure. Now, Glenn has seven losses on his record. Meanwhile, Dober has broken a record and was in high spirits after the fight.

Dober knocked out Glenn making it his ninth knockout. This gives him one up over Dustin Poirier making him the fighter with the most knockouts in the history of the lightweight division. Certainly, something to celebrate apart from being a father. Now, Dober can move on to greater things ahead in his career. Perhaps one day, we’ll see him fight a champion.
