“Pu**y” Khabib Nurmagomedov Lashes Out at Tony Ferguson After Hard-Hitting UFC 274 Confessions: “Focus on Yourself Stupid Guy”

We often hear the term ‘styles make fights.’ Fans are usually excited to see two top fighters meet in the middle of the octagon and put everything on the line. Although, fans do not always get what they want. Some fights, regardless of how hard one tries, simply can’t be made. Such was the case in the fight between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Ahead of his fight at UFC 274, ‘El Cucuy‘ spoke about his arch-nemesis. He said, “I stopped thinking all about the bad sh**, just kind of focused on what’s really important which is just having fun…I’ve been in enough positions, bad positions where I thought Khabib would actually take a fight, and pu**y is still scared.”

In an Instagram reel uploaded by Daniel Cormier, ‘El Cucuy’ commented on Nurmagomedov. ‘The Eagle‘ replied to Ferguson and wrote, “Last 3 years, Tony has not won a single round in the UFC. leave me alone and focus on yourself stupid guy.”

The back and forth between Ferguson and Nurmagomedov is not a matter of surprise. The two UFC fighters have shared a rivalry and saw their scheduled fights fall through five times.

Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov are two of the biggest stars the UFC has produced. Competing in the same division, both fighters always expressed their desire to face each other. While the UFC tried to make this fight five times, every attempt failed.
Nurmagomedov and Ferguson were first scheduled to fight in 2015 at The Ultimate Fighter: Season 22 Finale. Both fighters were coming into this fight with a winning streak. Unfortunately, a month before the fight, ‘The Eagle’ pulled out because of a rib injury sustained to him.

In 2016, the UFC once again booked them to fight at UFC on Fox 19. This time, Ferguson pulled out of the fight, citing a lung issue, and, once again, the fight could not be made.
As the famous saying goes, “The third time’s the charm,” the UFC booked Nurmagomedov vs Ferguson for the third time. This time, ‘The Eagle’ and ‘El Cucuy’ were set to face off in the co-main event at UFC 209 for the Interim Lightweight Championship. It fell through as Nurmagomedov was hospitalized due to weight cut issues.
Undeterred, the UFC booked this match for the fourth time at UFC 223 for the Undisputed UFC Lightweight Title. However, as ‘El Cucuy’ tripped over a wire and injured his knee, he withdrew.

In 2019, both fighters were on a 12-fight win streak; the UFC set this bout as the UFC 249 main event. As Covid-19 took center stage, there was uncertainty about the event taking place. Nurmagomedov moved to Russia, but because of the spread of the virus, he was barred from entering the US again due to travel restrictions. Hence, the fight was canceled for the fifth time.

The fans still retained hope, but their hopes got dashed as Ferguson lost to Gaethje at UFC 249 and Nurmagomedov retired at UFC 254.
