“I left the UFC ’cause they stole my Reebok deal. That was my motherf**king deal. I brought Reebok… Reebok sponsored me and I was gonna wear them on my shorts. Dana White was like, ‘You can’t wear Reebok,'” said Quinton Jackson. The rift between Jackson and the UFC CEO has been no secret. Last year, the former champion opened up about the circumstances that led to his departure from the promotion, pointing fingers at what he described as unfair treatment from White.
According to Quinton Jackson, he had independently secured a sponsorship deal with Reebok, only to have it blocked by the UFC. Known as one of the most charismatic figures of his era, ‘Rampage’ believed that his star power should have granted him more leverage. However, he claimed Dana White‘s rigid leadership style left little room for personal deals or negotiation.
The fallout from that clash marked the beginning of the end for Rampage’s relationship with the organization. Years have passed since Quinton Jackson officially retired from MMA, but memories of his time under Dana White’s leadership continue to surface. In a recent appearance on the JAXXON Podcast alongside fellow former UFC light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin, Jackson reflected on one particularly tense exchange ahead of UFC 86. Recalling the moment Jackson shared,

“He [Dana White] said, ‘Are you on steroids?’ I was like, ‘Dana, really? You think I’m on steroids?’ He said, ‘Only when people are on steroids, they blow up like that.’ He had me tested months before your fight—he’s never done that before and never done that since.”
The Nevada native then chimed in with a similar story, revealing that he, too, had been tested unusually early during the filming of The Ultimate Fighter.
“I don’t like that,” Griffin remarked. Jackson, never one to miss a jab, responded playfully, “‘Cause you looked like you were on steroids! You were in perfect shape—everything.” Griffin laughed and clarified that he was clean at the time. Then, with a grin, he added, “I am on steroid now.”

While their exchange was lighthearted, the issue of steroids and performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) has been a persistent and controversial topic in combat sports. PED scandals continue to emerge, from the overturned UFC result of Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier 2 to boxing’s recent turmoil surrounding Ryan Garcia’s failed drug test and tainted victory over Devin Haney.

Did Dana White sabotage Rampage's career, or was it just business as usual in the UFC?
Have an interesting take?
Interestingly, some of that attention has recently shifted toward UFC President Dana White himself. With his increasingly jacked physique turning heads, fans and even former fighters have started wondering—could the UFC boss be on something too?
Throwback: When Brendan Schaub suspected that Dana White was on steroids
Throwback to the moment Dana White had a serious wake-up call—one that nearly knocked the wind out of him. After a consultation with doctors and a team of scientists from the 10X Health System, White was told he had just 10.4 years to live. The news hit hard, but considering his physical condition at the time, it wasn’t entirely shocking. A few years back, Dana was significantly overweight, and the consequences had already started showing in his health.

Detailing Dana White’s condition, Gary Brecka explained, “Triglycerides are a measure of blood fat and shouldn’t be over 149 – two or three hundred is a ‘cataclysmic level,’ but his was 768.” Along with dangerously high triglycerides, Dana was battling other serious health issues. But after that critical meeting with Brecka, everything changed. That moment marked the beginning of a dramatic transformation in White’s lifestyle—and one that may have saved his life.
The results? Nothing short of stunning. In just 10 weeks, Dana White went from carrying extra weight to sporting a shredded, muscular physique. When he later posted a shirtless photo online, fans were left stunned at the 52-year-old UFC president’s new look. However, some people doubted the change was entirely natural. Former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub weighed in with his honest take on the transformation during an episode of his podcast Thiccc Boy.
Schaub said, “He looks great. It’s called steroids. Right guys? It’s called steroids. Steroids and diet. The guy was like, ‘Listen, you’re gonna die in 10 years. I’ll narrow it down to the month, unless you take my program for one million dollars a month.’ And Dana was like, ‘Say less.’ Let me guess, eat more vegetables, less carbs, less sugars, take these steroids, get sleep… Dam, he looks really good, he looks fantastic.”
