Tony Ferguson versus Khabib Nurmagomedov was one of the most anticipated fights in the history of the UFC. ‘El Cucuy’ was one of the most exciting and fearsome prospects in the lightweight division with his 12 fight winning streak. Everyone wanted the Californian to go up against the undefeated Russian, who were clearing the lightweight division one by one.

Recently, ‘El Cucuy’ took a jibe at ‘The Eagle’ to create a new division at his promotion ‘Eagle FC’. However, the ‘Eagle’ swiftly responded with “June 8, 2019”, reminding the Mexican-American the last time he won a fight in the octagon.

Meanwhile, Ferguson didn’t back down and pointed out Khabib’s weigh cut controversy. “UFC 209 Blamed It On The Cake, Felt Fear For His Life. UFC 249 Ran To Momma #towelgate 🖕😎 -CSO- 🇺🇸🏆🇲🇽”

Ferguson emphasized the fact that Nurmagomedov could not fight him when their bout was scheduled at UFC 209, due to weight cut complications. Subsequently, in their last match-up at UFC 249, ‘The Eagle’ could not come to the United States because of COVID protocols.

Currently, ‘El Cucuy’ is coming off a loss against Beneil Dariush and is currently walking with a 3-fight losing skid as Justin Gaethje snapped his 12-fight winning streak. Contrastingly, Khabib Nurmagomedov retired from the UFC undefeated and is now building his own MMA promotion, which goes by the name Eagle Fighting Championship.
