The fight between Randa Markos and Luana Pinheiro was supposed to be one of the best preliminary fights of the UFC event. However, it was far from that, and UFC fans will remember it for all the wrong reasons.

Markos kicked Pinheiro in the face, but as Pinheiro was on her knees at that moment, the referee disqualified ‘Quiet Storm’ Markos. After she got hit, Pinheiro stayed motionless on the ground for a few seconds. When the medical team came to examine her, she asked her coach if she had lost the fight.

Before the fight ended, the two fighters were involved in a tussle on the ground. Markos, who was trying to push Pinheiro away, ended up landing a nasty kick to her face. After the fight, UFC fans saw Pinheiro being carried to the back, which could mean that she has a serious injury.

This victory was Pinheiro’s first in the UFC, however, the fighter may not have envisioned winning it this way. On the flip side, Randa Markos made unwanted history as she became the first female fighter to suffer 10 defeats in the UFC. She had lost her last three fights, and this could have been the one where she got back to winning ways. Alas, that couldn’t happen and she is now in danger of being cut from the promotion.

The brief fight had another stoppage, as the referee, Mark Smith, had earlier warned Pinheiro for a poke in the eye. Markos is an MMA veteran and has been a mainstay in the UFC strawweight division for a long time. ‘Quiet Storm’ was visibly upset after the loss as she suffered her 11th MMA career setback.
Markos last won a fight in 2019, when she defeated Ashley Yoder at the UFC Fight Night: Maia vs. Askren, and this may have been her last bout. Meanwhile, Pinheiro will look to claim a UFC win on her own merit in the future. It remains to be seen how badly she was hurt and when she will return to the cage.
