UFC 306/Riyadh Season Noche UFC

Headlined by the UFC Bantamweight Championship fight between Sean O’Malley and Merab Dvalishvili, the Riyadh Season Noche UFC was a dream event that no one saw coming. Taking place at the Las Vegas Sphere in Paradise, Nevada, Dana White made sure to make it an event that would be remembered for ages. The dome was as beautiful as it was surreal, and the UFC made the experience even greater by projecting several 90-second short films before each fight that told the history of combat in Mexico from the past to the present.

The promotion’s head honcho indicated that the production costs for the one-time event reached $20 million, as opposed to the about $8 million usually earned on routine pay-per-view events. Dana White also made certain that each contest on the card included at least one Mexican or Mexican-born competitor. So, it is no surprise that the night became a massive success and was 2024’s biggest gate, earning a whopping $21,829,245.

This one is really tricky since the UFC hasn’t officially revealed the numbers yet. However, the alleged numbers doing the rounds online are more than 800K in PPV sales. Held at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York, the PPV drew an announced attendance of 20,200 for a live gate of $16,673,954. This was one emotional event, as Jon Jones hinted time and again that this would be his last fight as an MMA fighter.

To make matters even more touching, it was an open secret by then that Stipe Miocic too might hang up his gloves after the fight against Jones – something that he eventually did, unlike Jones, who backtracked on his retirement claims and promised he would give fans the fight that they wanted. It was the Dana White-led promotion’s 11th visit to New York City and was co-main evented by Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler.

UFC 300

The night that the UFC finally hit the 300 mark with pay-per-view events. The massive celebration took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. It featured a fight card that was as adrenaline-fueled as it can get, with the main card featuring three title fights and a title eliminator. UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira went toe-to-toe against the former champion Jamahal Hill in the main event, knocking him out cold in the first round.

In the co-main event, Zhang Weili and Yan Xiaonan gave fans a night to remember in an action-packed, barn-burner, five-round war. Even the BMF was put on the line in the April 13th event as Max Holloway snatched the title away from Justin Gaethje. With such incredible fights on the card, back-to-back, it is no wonder that the event raked in massive numbers. Living up to the expectations, UFC 300 earned $16,508,823.

The event was a special one for Dana White and the promotion! After all, almost everything went downhill after Conor McGregor, who was set to mark his return to the Octagon, withdrew from his fight against Michael Chandler just weeks before the event. This left the promotion in a state of panic, leaving fight fans wondering what could be the way out for Dana White. However, that is when Alex Pereira came to their rescue by agreeing to be a part of a short-notice rematch against Jiri Prochazka for the light heavyweight title.

Even the co-main event between Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree Jr. fell through since the latter unintentionally ingested Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). With even Hill pulling out at the last minute, it became yet another disaster for Dana White. Despite all the problems, the event succeeded in earning a massive sum of $15,909,243 with 18,881 fans in attendance.

UFC 299

The event headlined by Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera marked the third time that the Dana White-led promotion came to Miami this year. The previous event held in the city was UFC 287 back in April 2023, and before that 21 years ago UFC 42. The fight card was stacked, with Sean O’Malley facing Marlon Vera for the second time, with their previous encounter ending with a loss for ‘Suga.’

The co-main event featured interim UFC Lightweight Champion Dustin Poirier going toe-to-toe against the dangerous French ex-special forces Benoit Saint-Denis. Other fighters that made the card were Michael Page, Kevin Holland, Jack Della Maddalena, and Gilbert Burns, to name a few. So, it wasn’t surprising to find out that the event earned a whopping $14,142,904. With an attendance of 19,165, it became one of the highest-selling PPVs this year.

What do you think of these marquee pay-per-view events in 2024? Will Dana White and the UFC manage to find greater success in 2025? Let us know in the comments.
