The No. 2 ranked UFC Women’s bantamweight, Raquel Pennington is set to fight at the co-main event of UFC 297. She is set to take on the No. 3 ranked UFC Women’s bantamweight Mayra Bueno Silva for the vacant Women’s bantamweight title. But what do we know about the no .2 ranked women’s bantamweight?

She is married to UFC strawweight Tecia Torres. The two have been together for many years now. The two got married sometime around the year 2022 and even revealed that they were expecting a first child not long after the marriage.

Raquel Pennington and Tecia Torres had shared that the two were expecting a baby back in November of 2020. In her Instagram post, she wrote, “We have an extra turkey in the oven this year. Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours. Baby Pennington June 2023 #Rocknado $TeamRocky #TeamTiny #family #love #ivf #ivfpregnancy.”

Pennington’s partner, Tecia Torres was the one carrying the child, most likely through the IVF procedure, as mentioned in Pennington’s post. The two partners finally welcomed their firstborn, Alayah Rose Pennington on 1st June 2023, without having any issues.

Torres often posts about their child on her social media but there have been no announcements of having a second child as of now. Despite taking a major step in life after becoming parents to the little girl, Pennington still seems focused on her career.

After her loss against Holly Holm at UFC 246, in Jan of 2020, Raquel Pennington has managed to get on a 5 fight win streak. Her latest came at UFC Fight Night 217 against Ketlen Vieira via a split decision, which ultimately earned her a shot at UFC Gold.

Raquel Pennington was also the backup fighter for the Irene Aldana and Amanda Nunes fight at UFC 289. Fans and fighters believed that given her prior success over the past three years, it was only a matter of time before Pennington would get a shot at UFC gold again.
