Song Yadong and Chris Gutierrez touched gloves and started their UFC Vegas 83 main event by exchanging strikes. While neither did significant damage, Yadong had the upper hand and scored the first of the many 10-9 scorecards he would earn yesterday night.

The ‘Kung Fu Kid’ started the second round strong with some strong leg kicks, which was reciprocated by ‘El Guapo’ with a front kick to the face of the Chinese fighter. Song Yadong raised the tempo as referee Herb Dean briefly stopped the fight after Yadong got poked in the eye accidentally by Chris Gutierrez. But the 7th-ranked bantamweight shook it off and continued to fight. He then scored a nice takedown as ‘El Guapo’ got another warning from Herb Dean for putting his fingers inside Yadong’s gloves.

The third round saw yet another accidental eye poke. However, it was Song Yadong this time, as Gutierrez took a few seconds to clear his vision. Thereafter, ‘El Guapo’ tried to go for a takedown, but the Chinese star did not give him a chance. Incidentally, the round ended with yet another takedown from Song Yadong.

The ‘Kung Fu Kid’ later started putting pressure on Chris Gutierrez by rattling him with rights and lefts and ultimately taking him down one more time in the fourth round. The fifth round started with Gutierrez dropping to the ground, with Yadong on top of him in a much more dominant position. With 10 seconds left for the final round, Yadong unloaded as much as he could as the fight came to an end as he won the fight via unanimous decision. Yadong then proceeded to call out Petr Yan to which fans reacted.

The Russian fighter immediately shared his response with a yawning emoji on Twitter (X). Let’s see what the fans had to say about that.
