Khabib Nurmagomedov walked away from fighting in 2020 and has remained firm in his decision. Despite many attempts to lure him back to the octagon, the former UFC lightweight champion has maintained his promise to his mother. However, the undefeated fighter recently revealed a name that makes him want to wear his gloves again for an MMA return.

This name is MMA royalty in the form of another MMA G.O.A.T.- Georges St-Pierre.

In a recent interview, Nurmagomedov said, “There’s no fighter that motivates me to return. But when I hear Georges St-Pierre’s name I want to go for a 10km run. So, you can throw any name Charles Oliveira too doesn’t motivate me.”

“Michael Chandler been knocked out a bunch of times. I’ve already run through Rafael dos Anjos, Justin Gaethje, Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier. But Georges St-Pierre really motivates me.”

“But I will be honest with you. This ship has sailed. He’s 40. Let’s leave GSP alone. We all love GSP, he’s the legend, the right person to represent MMA. Let’s leave our names aside,” Nurmagomedov concluded.

After retiring from professional fighting, ‘The Eagle’ is carrying his father’s torch. He trains his fellow teammates, cousins, and friends for their respective MMA careers.

A prominent name that trains under Nurmagomedov is the UFC lightweight fighter Islam Makhachev. The latter, who is in his best form with a ten-fight undefeated streak in the promotion, is on the brink of a title shot.
