Less than a week ago, Reinier De Ridder stopped the hype train of Bo Nickal with some vicious strikes to the body and a BJJ masterclass. Upon this victory, people soon realized the man they had overlooked, and chosen the young prospect over is in himself perhaps one of the most dangerous fighters in the middleweight division. Merely six days after the fight, De Ridder announced his next entry to the octagon in July, as he would be throwing it down against a veteran this time in, ‘The Reaper’ Robert Whittaker, on July 26th.
After finishing Bo, De Ridder has become a fan favorite in a way that most matchups in the middleweight division sound like a death wish for his opponents. Currently on a three-fight win streak in the UFC, De Ridder has established himself as a dangerous 185-pounder in the UFC, and the competition for his next venture in the organization will be a true proving ground for that.
Despite his heartbreaking loss against Khamzat Chimaev, Robert Whittaker remains a top contender in his division, and even as a veteran, can provide a tough challenge to the youngest and greatest of prospects. But leading into this fight against De Ridder, it seems like the fans have started to look away from Whittaker.

“RDR by accident.”- Fans unleash their dark humor as they pick Renier De Ridder over Robert Whittaker
Chances are, that these comments have been made just out of fun, a way to show a fan’s excitement for this banger of fight. But the odds are really going against Robert Whittaker it seems. The Robert Whittaker army wasn’t far behind as they came out with their own set of comments. One fan of ‘The Reaper’ commented: “Whittaker is going to end the hype.” while another fan commented: “Rob is a savage.” And we cannot disagree with these comments as well. Robert Whittaker has only to three fighters, first he lost to two former middleweight champions in Israel Adesanya and Dricus Du Plessis and then his most recent loss was against Chimaev. If leave that behind, there’s not a single opponent in the middleweight division that gave Whittaker a challenge. So De Ridder surely has to bring something electrifying to the octagon.
But whoever wins, this fight is in fact going to be a “BANGER!” in any case whatsover. A war of words now, will be a war of fists on July 26th. Both are veterans of the sport, and both want to hold the middleweight title as soon as they can, whoever wins this bout might just be skyrocketed to a title eliminator next. But the question will remain the same until they fight, who will come out of their fight as the victor? What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
