Mike Perry has cemented his place as the face of bare-knuckle boxing, often drawing comparisons to Conor McGregor for his larger-than-life persona and ability to captivate audiences. ‘Platinum’ is undoubtedly the biggest star in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship history, serving as the promotion’s primary needle-mover and its golden goose. That’s why it came as a shock when Perry recently voiced his frustrations with the promotion.
The former UFC standout openly criticized BKFC for a lack of opportunities, even suggesting he felt “fired” at the behest of Conor McGregor, who has been a vocal supporter of the sport. However, it appears that tensions between Perry and BKFC are easing, and fans can expect the bare-knuckle legend to return to the ring soon. BKFC President David Feldman has hinted that Perry’s comeback could feature a blockbuster matchup against none other than UFC icon Robbie Lawler.
If confirmed, this clash of combat sports legends would not only electrify BKFC fans but also further solidify Perry’s status as the driving force behind the promotion’s growing popularity. “I mean there’s a possibility [of a Mike Perry vs. Robbie Lawler fight happening], you
know. The UFC has to go along with that. There’s a possibility for that and a few other things. It looks like March for Mike, he’s definitely coming back… We’ve been talking with his management team,” Feldman told Damon Martin in a recent interview.

Jake Paul vs Mike Perry
Perry had called out the former UFC 170lbs champ at the BKFC 56 event in December 2023, which would undoubtedly be a great fight for everyone involved. Lawler retired from the UFC in picture picture-perfect manner with a 38-second knockout back in July 2023. But it seems like he is still under contract with the MMA juggernaut, which means that the promotion would have to sign off on him going to fight in the BKFC.
Securing the UFC’s blessings may not be too difficult since Dana White and Co. have done business with the BKFC previously. However, the bigger issue is whether or not ‘Ruthless’ is up for fighting Perry. After all, the UFC legend has been entirely silent on the topic, not a good strategy if Lawler actually wants to fight Perry.
Moreover, the Jake Paul loss has done much harm to Perry’s reputation and may be the reason the BKFC has been reluctant to offer Perry fights. Or maybe it has to do with Conor McGregor. At least that is what the bare-knuckle superstar thinks.
Why does Mike Perry blame Conor McGregor for conflict with BKFC?
Mike Perry, of course, boxed Jake Paul under the Queensberry Rules last year. However, it led to a devastating Knockout loss. This has taken some of the sheen off ‘Platinum’, who was on his way to becoming a combat sports legend. Instead, Paul made him a laughing stock in the fight world. And Feldman thinks that the BKFC superstar would need to regain his shine starting in March.
What’s your perspective on:
Can Mike Perry's potential fight with Robbie Lawler reignite his career after the Jake Paul debacle?

“He’s coming back, and you know, I wish he didn’t step outside of this sport because I do believe he truly owns the sport. Like this was made for Mike Perry, but you know, now he has to come back in here, kindle his flame, and show the BKFC fans and all the combat sports fans that he is a true bare-knuckle fighter and this is where he belongs. And he’s going to show that again in March,” Feldman added.
In fact, the Jake Paul fight led to BKFC co-owner Conor McGregor ‘firing’ Perry. ‘Mystic Mac’ of course, hates ‘The Problem Child’, who had once taken shots at McGregor’s fiancee Dee Devlin a few years ago. And so upset was the Irishman at Paul knocking out Perry last year that he took to social media and ‘fired’ Perry.

Of course, ‘Platinum’ wasn’t fired from the BKFC – both because he is its biggest star and a co-owner just like McGregor. But with the BKFC apparently refusing to give Perry any fights, he felt that the Irishman was responsible for the step-motherly treatment he was getting from Feldman and Co.
Thankfully, that seems not to be true, and bare-knuckle fans will get a chance to see Perry back in action, doing what he does best this March. Let us know what you think in the comment section below!
