Israel Adesanya vs Robert Whittaker 2: a possible timeline

Whittaker lost his belt to ‘The Last Stylebender’ when they previously fought at UFC 243. Adesanya was clearly the better stand-up fighter. He used his striking wizardry to maximum effect. After dropping Whittaker late in the first round, the current champion closed the show via a second round knockout.

A possible rematch between the duo has been touted since. Whittaker has managed to put together a 3 fight winning streak after the loss. He has bettered the likes of Darren Tii, Jared Cannonier, and Kelvin Gastelum. As for Adesanya, he has defended his middleweight title against Yoel Romero, Paulo Costa, and Marvin Vettori after winning it.

Fans want to see the duo throw down once again as they believe Whittaker is still Adesanya’s biggest threat in the division despite the outcome of the first contest. Also, given the quality that ‘The Reaper‘ possesses, those claims are not too far-fetched. With a proper game plan, he certainly has the ability to defeat anyone on the 185 lbs roster. When the fight gets boked, remains to be seen.
