Honoured to be handed my black belt from my coach and friend @alexprates07. Started Gi 16 years ago and I’m stoked to have hit this milestone in my career. Lookout world. If you’re in so much as a long sleeve shirt. Danger.”

The ‘Reaper’ has seen a sublime 2020 run in the UFC by defeating Darren Till and very recently, Jared Cannonier. He dominated both the opponents by showcasing his empathetic standup game throughout the fight.

Bagging 2 wins in a row, and then securing a black-belt in Jiu-Jitsu is a magnetic way to conclude the year. Post his loss to Israel Adesanya, many presumed that Whittaker’s time inside the octagon was over. But Whittaker defied the odds and secured 2 back-to-back wins to prove that he still has a lot to do.

Who will Robert Whittaker face next?

The ‘Reaper’ could have collapsed in the middleweight rankings had he not secured 2 wins in a row. He now sits at the #1 spot in the 185-pound division, potentially in line for a rematch with Adesanya.

A series of reports suggest that ahead of his rematch with Adesanya, the Australian might go up against the #2 ranked 185-pounder, Paulo Costa.

UFC President Dana White has confirmed that Whittaker was undeniably next in line for a middleweight title shot, but Adesanya will now move up to fight Jan Blachowicz for the light-heavyweight title.

Until then, Whittaker will look to crucify one more opponent in a bid to become the legitimate candidate for the middleweight gold.

The ‘Reaper’ has beaten the likes of Yoel Romero, Derek Brunson, Uriah Hall, and many more. He is undoubtedly one of the best in this highly stacked division.
