The UFC recently announced the teams for fight analysis and commentary for UFC 303. This sent the world of mixed martial arts into a frenzy. Needless to say, Joe Rogan is going to resume his duties as a color commentator for the event. But the fight analysis crew is going to see a face that they used to see inside the Octagon. Dustin Poirier is going to join Chael Sonnen and Teddy Atlas as the desk analysts on the post-fight show.

The news of Poirier getting a seat with the desk crew has begun to churn the rumor mills. After losing his last fight with Islam Makhachev to a D’arce choke in the final round, the ‘Diamond’ hinted at his retirement. Although nothing was confirmed, he told Rogan, “It’s just like if I do fight again, what am I fighting for, just a fight? It has to- I’ve done that 50 times, you know. I don’t know, I got a little girl I love and I gotta see. I think this could be it, honestly, Joe.” However, the fighter also assured that he wasn’t a hundred percent sure of his retirement. But his name coming up as an analyst for UFC 303 sure has the fans believe his retirement story.

On the other hand, Rogan will be joining Jon Anik and Din Thomas, and commentating on the fights. While Anik will take control of the play-by-play commentary, Rogan and Thomas are in charge of the color commentary. However, the UFC world wasn’t happy with the news.

Fight fans react as Joe Rogan and Dustin Poirier join the broadcasting team for UFC 303

Megan Olivi, one of the major faces in the UFC’s broadcasting team, spared no time to welcome the guys to the team. She commented, “We will you soon!” But many of the fight fans were unhappy with the decision. Some of the fans were strictly against the idea of the JRE host calling the fights.

One of the fans pointed out that Rogan should opt for retirement. The comment read, “Grandpa bro rogan needs to retire.” Another comment asked the fighting community to get ready for the color commentator’s bias. “Ready for some Rogan bias,” wrote the fan. Meanwhile, a fan claimed that Michael Bisping, Paul Felder, and Anik would have constituted a far better team. The comment read, “Rogan needs to stop calling fights, very hard to listen to. Felder bisping and anik would be perfect.” Talking about the main event between Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka, a fan wrote, “Rogan’s gonna glaze the f**k outta the calf kicks of periera.”

The fighting community also talked about Poirier’s skills with the mic. “Hopefully, he’s a bit more comfortable on the mic this time around love seeing Dustin do shit like this,” wrote a fan. At the same time, many others conversed about his retirement as a professional mixed martial artist. One fan commented, “Dustin gonna retire from fighting and be a ufc analyst…” Another comment read, “prepping for the retirement job good s**t dp.” One more comment went like this, “I imagine DP is getting ready for life after fighting by doing this.”

Nevertheless, the excitement about Poirier as the analyst and Rogan as the color commentator was pretty palpable. However, the fans also began to question how exciting it would have been had the fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler was still up for UFC 303. One fan typed in, “Dustin on broadcast in mcgregor vs chandler would have been comical,” while another wrote, “Would’ve been cool to have DP on the desk with Conor fighting but oh well.”
