Both are trained martial artists and are famous for their exceptional fighting skills without actually being active fighters. While Rogan has been capturing the hearts of millions with his podcasts, White has been doing the same with his Hollywood career.
Last year, Michael Jai White appeared in an interview with DJ Vlad, where the two had a 2-hour long conversation. One of the most intriguing moments for the fans was when the Hollywood star talked about Joe Rogan.

Michael Jai White marks similarities with Joe Rogan
In the interview, White expressed his admiration for Joe Rogan, emphasizing the numerous similarities they share. Moreover, he described their shared passion for martial arts, noting that they both competed in it long before UFC gained widespread recognition. Going further, White mentioned Rogan’s training with Maurice Smith, a renowned UFC and kickboxing K1 champion.
“I don’t know too many human beings on the planet who I have so many similarities with, than Joe Rogan. It’s crazy! We play competition billiards, martial arts, we’ve been competing with world champions way before UFC. Joe Rogan used to train with Maurice Smith. We do so in a pure level because we test ourselves.”
White praised Rogan’s impressive jiu-jitsu skills, recounting instances where Rogan had tapped out UFC champions during training sessions. He described their bond as “martial art nerds,” united by their dedication to honing their craft.

“I’ve seen Joe Rogan tapping out UFC champions in jiu-jitsu. He’s on that level but we both are like martial art nerds.”

However, White acknowledged a key difference between them. While Rogan delves into mind-expanding substances, White made it clear that he personally refrains from such practices, describing himself as a “boy scout” in that regard.

“The thing that differs about us is he’s into a lot more… well he’s into the drug stuff and I’m not into that. I’m a boy scout as far as that’s concerned. He’s into trying to expand the mind doing that stuff I stay away.”
