According to her, she fell out of love with the sport and didn’t want to compete again in the Olympics. She then explained the mistake she made in her MMA career. Rousey said, “I think that’s a mistake that I made with MMA was when I got to that point where I didn’t want it anymore, I kept doing it for everybody else.”

The Baddest Woman on the Planet also mentioned how one needs to be a “people pleaser” to stay at the top. She explained how this could help one “excel,” but can also be “an obstacle” sometimes. Rousey added, “Knowing when is the right time to walk away, it’s got to be your decision, ’cause not everybody else is going to come to a consensus. And nobody knows what you’re actually going through and what it actually takes.”

Legends in other sports have made the same mistake of not knowing when to leave the sport. This includes the likes of Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and Michael Schumacher.

She won the women’s bantamweight title in 2013 and successfully defended the belt five times. Rousey displayed pure dominance and stylistically won all her bouts. The entire division was scared of her armbar finishes and elite judo skills.

Unfortunately for her, things took a turn for the worse. In her bout against Holly Holm, she was knocked out via a perfectly timed head kick. Just when fans thought she should’ve retired, she returned to the octagon to face Amanda Nunes. This was the major mistake of her career, as Nunes brutally knocked her out in the very first round.
