Ronda Rousey’s Confession Doesn’t Sit Well as Fans Refuse to Believe Ex-UFC Champ’s Concussion Claims

Ronda Rousey retired back in 2018 after facing a rather lopsided loss against Amanda Nunes. However, she holds on to the same reason today that forced her into retirement back then, concussions. Nunes managed to knock out Rousey in the very first round of their bout and that wasn’t the whole picture.
Rousey had also been knocked out in her previous fight against Holly Holm who also knocked her out in the second round of the fight starting it off with a brutal head kick. Of course, in the sport of MMA, concussions are a big risk. But that’s a risk that fighters take every single round of every single matchup.
An interesting detail in Rousey’s career is that those two are the only losses she’s ever faced in her professional career. Up until then, her career was flawless and she had clearly been a dominating force in MMA like no one else. Were the two losses enough to derail the iconic fighter? Here’s what she has to say about it all.

“I think that there was just so much to it that I couldn’t talk about it in the form of like an interview or an article or anything like that or there would be several filters between my words and people reading it.” She said in a recent conversation.
“So much had to do with having so many concussions when I was in judo before I even got into MMA, I couldn’t talk about it at all when I was doing MMA. Because it would literally put a target on my head and I might not have been allowed to compete any further and same thing with WWE.” While ‘Rowdy’ makes an interesting point, many fans weren’t exactly in line with her.
Fans flame Ronda Rousey over the “concussion” conversation
UFC fans aren’t known for mincing their takes and given Rousey’s situation, many reactions poured in. Some believed that the former UFC fighter was making excuses for retiring only after two losses in her pro-MMA career. Others had more to say. Here are some reactions.
“Just be honest and say dana and the ufc hyped me up to believe I was untouchable and unbeatable and when I finally faced real competition and got beat the way I did, it damaged my pride and ego tremendously.”
