“Rose Is Gonna Have All the Answers for Her”- Mackenzie Dern Gives Her Take on Rose Namajunas vs Zhang Weili

Two-time UFC women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas is getting ready for a rematch with former strawweight champion Zhang Weili. The bout will take place at UFC 268, on one of the most exciting and stacked cards of the year.
Namajunas is coming off an emphatic first-round knockout victory against the former champion at UFC 261. Going into their first meeting, Zhang Weili looked to defend her belt for a second time following a gritty performance against former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
However, things went completely sideways for Weili after Rose Namajunas snuck in a whipping left head kick seventy-eight seconds into the first round, sending her crashing to the canvas.

Interestingly, in a recent interview with Lowkick MMA, the no.4 strawweight in the division, Mackenzie Dern, gave her take on the upcoming rematch. A few fights away from a title shot, Dern made the following prediction regarding this highly anticipated title fight:
“I think it will go longer than how long the last one went. But I think that Rose will win, you know. The last one I thought Zhang Weili would win. And man Rose just like proved me wrong, and maybe a lot of people wrong, I don’t know. But yeah, I think that Rose will win again. You know, I saw her fight with Jessica, you know, the second one was like a full-out war. So I think that even though Zhang Weili thinks she is going to come in, maybe more focused, I guess. I think that Rose is gonna all the answers for her.”
Despite the devastating first-round loss the first time, Zhang Weili has gotten the opportunity for an immediate rematch. Perhaps because of her impressive winning streak in the UFC. However, this could be her last opportunity to get her hands on the belt for a long time.
Can Rose Namajunas become the greatest women’s strawweight of all time?
As of now, Joanna Jedrzejczyk is undoubtedly the greatest women’s strawweight of all time. The Polish native had the most dominant run in the division. She won her first eight fights in the UFC and defended her belt five times before she finally lost it to Rose Namajunas at UFC 217.

As for Rose Namajunas, she might not have been as active as other fighters in the division. However, over the years, ‘Thug Rose’ has transformed into one of the most polished and cerebral strikers in the division. She is also the only woman to hold a belt two times in the UFC.
If she can stick to her winning ways, while continuing to improve, working with Trevor Wittman, we may very well see her go down as the greatest women’s strawweight of all time.
