Although her flyweight debut at UFC Fight Night 226 did not turn out well as she lost to Manon Fiorot after moving up a weight class, Rose Namajunas is hoping for a title bout by the end of the year. The former two-time strawweight champion, who remains a fan favorite despite her recent skid in form and will fight #7 ranked flyweight Amanda Ribas in the main event of their Fight Night Card on March 23 to try and get her first win at the 125-pound division.

While ‘Thug Rose’ will be hoping to get into title contention with a win, Ribas too has an opportunity to get into the title mix in the somewhat sparse division if she prevails over the former champion. Ahead of the bout, we take a look at her net worth and earnings.

Rose Namajunas grew up in a challenging environment to become a successful MMA fighter. Owing to her tough upbringing and resilience, her friends nicknamed her ‘Thug Rose’, a moniker she uses to this day. A veritable martial arts prodigy, Namajunas started training martial arts at the age of five.

By the age of nine, she has earned her poom (junior black belt) and subsequently went on to excel in various martial arts and even be a standout in school. Given this background, it was not surprising that she pursued martial arts professionally, starting off with Taekwondo.

She started training MMA in her late teens and made her professional debut in 2013 after a perfect 4-0 amateur record. Namajunas went on to appear on season 20 of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’, and although she lost to Carla Esparza in the finals, she was signed to the UFC.

Namajunas quickly put together a winning streak and saw herself fight for the title in only her third fight at the promotion. Although ‘Thug Rose’ was unsuccessful in her first shot at the title against Carla Esparza, she won the strawweight title at UFC 217 with a first-round win over Joanna Jędrzejczyk.

Namajunas’ earnings have been impressive. While the data for all her fights were not available, for her UFC 261 title clash against Zhang Weili, Namajunas made $282,000 ($100,000 base pay, plus $100,000 win bonus and $32,000 promotional compliance pay). For their UFC 268 rematch against the same opponent, she made a significant amount, although the exact figure is not available.

Namajunas lost her strawweight title to Carla Esparza at UFC 274 last year but made a respectable amount (the exact figure is not disclosed). ‘Thug Rose’s last fight against Manon Fiorot at UFC Fight Night 226 in September last year netted her $11,000 (base pay, no win bonus) since she was no longer champion.
