Rose Namajunas finally broke her losing streak at UFC Vegas 89. She defeated Amanda Ribas in their 5-round main event at the Apex via a unanimous decision. However, the fans were not happy with Namajunas’s performance and they sounded off on her and her fiance and coach Pat Barry on social media.

‘Thug’ has not been in form since her fight against Carla Esparza in 2022 ended her second reign as UFC strawweight champion. It looked like her title defeat might have taken a toll on her as she lost her following fight against Manon Fiorot via a unanimous decision. However, Rose Namajunas was determined to overcome Amanda Ribas and so she did.

From the get-go, Ribas started to put pressure on Namajunas by pressing forward by punching and kicking the latter. She was not going to let ‘Thug’ settle. However, Namajunas began countering Ribas after finding her range. Later on, she was finding a lot of success while fighting on her feet.

As soon as the final round started, Amanda Ribas decided to come out strong with some powerful kicks. However, Rose Namajunas continued to use the same strategy she’d been using since the beginning of the fight and kept moving around her opponent, landing the occasional jabs and combinations. She connected on Ribas with some quick and precise strikes, dodging the Brazilian’s attack with skill, and in the end, won the fight via decision. Despite her winning performance, fans were not too impressed with how Namajunas performed and took to social media to give their take on her fight against Ribas.

Fans sound off on Rose Namajunas and Pat Barry for a lackluster outing at UFC Vegas 89

Given that the UFC has set up amazing fight cards in 2024, fans believe that UFC Vegas 89 had one of the worst cards, not only of this year but of all time.

Another fan urged the UFC not to put Rose Namajunas in a main event ever again.

Moreover, fans believe that they did not think Rose Namajunas won the fight, claiming that she did not do much damage to Amanda Ribas.

Like the previous reaction, fans also called out Pat Barry for poor coaching tactics, urging ‘Thug’ to bring back head coach Trevor Wittman.

Furthermore, the fans were not as disappointed with Pat Barry as they were with Rose Namajunas for dropping Wittman and replacing him with her fiance.

The verbal onslaught on Pat Barry continued.

Despite what fans had to say about her, Rose Namajunas would be relieved to gain back her confidence with a win. She will now be looking forward to adding a few more wins to her record before getting into the title contention. Will we see Namajunas becoming a three-time UFC champion in the future? It remains to be seen.
