UFC 315 was quite a ride. From the Belal Muhammad finding himself on the unfortunate champion with zero title defenses list, to the legendary Jose Aldo finally retiring at the age of 38 after an electrifying clash with a young up-and-comer, the top-billed fights lived up to the promise.

Valentina Shevchenko finally faced someone not named Alexa Grasso after three frustrating fights with the Mexican former champion. ‘Bullet’ looked meticulous as ever and set the tone for her co-main event clash against Manon Fiorot by breaking the Frenchwoman’s nose in the first round. In this article, we take a look at Craig Jones, GSP, and Zhang Weili’s reactions to the events on UFC 315.

Craig Jones throws shade at Belal Muhammad after UFC 315 loss

Craig Jones, the most polarizing man in the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu world, is nothing if not a funny guy. His second annual Craig Jones Invitational is set for August, where he will face Olympic gold medallist wrestler Gable Steveson. But in the meantime, he is still watching fights. Combat sports journalist Oscar Willis caught up with Jones after UFC 315 and asked the BJJ star his thoughts about the Belal Muhammad vs. Jack Della Maddalena clash, which ‘JDM’ won.

“It was a highly technical striking match, I played a key role in that. There were some get-ups. Craig Jones did nothing. He [‘JDM’] fixed his [Muhammad’s] lazy eye, I’ll tell you that much,” Jones said.

Belal Muhammad indeed does have a lazy eye. And Jones is implying that Della Maddalena beat up the now-former champion so much that the beating ‘fixed’ ‘Bully B’s lazy eye. The always outspoken Belal Muhammad will probably have some unflattering things to say about Craig Jones, too, if he heard this, but then again, the UFC star has bigger things to worry about at the moment.

Georges St-Pierre was blown away by Jose Aldo vs. Aiemann Zahabi

We have probably seen the last of Jose Aldo in the UFC Octagon at UFC 315. And what a way to go out. The legendary former featherweight champ went to war with #15 ranked Aiemann Zahabi, who survived a brutal head kick which sent him to the ground, to maul Aldo on the ground in the third round after a pretty ordinary second round.

But at least Aldo’s last dance was a memorable one, with Georges St-Pierre, who was in Zahabi’s corner, comparing the fight to one straight out of a Hollywood film. “It was like a rocky movie fight scenario 👊. Congrats Aiemann,” ‘GSP’ wrote on social media.

Aldo, 38, was still pretty competitive and actually looked quicker and sharper than Zahabi. But the Brazilian legend took off his gloves after the fight and revealed that this would be his last fight. “I just don’t have it in my heart anymore. I think this is the last time you’re going to see me,” Junior said in the post-fight octagon interview.

Zhang Weili calls out Valentina Shevchenko

Valentina Shevchenko defied the odds and beat Manon Fiorot at their UFC 315 co-main event clash to retain her women’s flyweight title. Although she officially has only one title defense on her record right now, it is ‘Bullet’s second reign as the champ. And as usual, the question on everyone’s mind is– what’s next for the Kyrgyz champion?

Well, Shevchenko, who has recently joined OnlyFans, said at the post-fight presser that she may let her OnlyFans subscribers decide her next opponent. But since she has cleared out her division already, there is another, much more intriguing fight on the horizon for her– a champ vs. champ clash against women’s flyweight champion Zhang Weili, who has indicated she is game.

“Congratulations to the champion. Everything has lined up perfectly, it‘s destiny,” the Chinese champion wrote on Instagram after Shevchenko’s victory.

Like ‘Bullet’, ‘Magnum’ has cleared out the 115-pound division of any real contenders. Not to mention, Weili is ranked #2 on the women’s P4P list, behind only Shevchenko. So, a fight between the two to determine the best female fighter in the UFC would be an interesting fight. What do you think about these developments in the combat sports world?
