Aljamain Sterling versus Petr Yan is a fight UFC fans have been yearning to see. After their last bout ended in Yan’s disqualification, people want to see both the fighters clash. This would settle any arguments about who deserves to be the bantamweight champion.

However, there seems to be a little issue that has recently cropped up. Sterling versus Yan has been booked for UFC 273. The Russian fighter can enter the US and return to his country without any problem. Unfortunately, his cornermen have been denied Visa by the US Government. Hence, Yan will not have the same amount of help or support that he is used to. Therefore, the upcoming fight against Sterling might be a little difficult for him.

As per Igor Lazorin from ‘Tass Agency’, Yan has the visa for three years and hence, can enter US and fight. As reported by ‘MMA Mania‘, Lazorin suggested the possibility of Khabib Nurmagomedov assisting Yan in such a situation.

This surely is a big negative development for the Russian fighter. After all, cornermen are important for every MMA fighter. Further, this is an important fight in the bantamweight division. While Sterling holds the title, Yan has claimed the interim title. So this unification bout will be a crucial fight for both the athletes. Their champion status is on the line.

However, if Khabib does corner Yan, it would be quite a visual to watch.

Sterling and Yan first faced off at UFC 259. ‘No Mercy’ was already the champion, and his bout against Sterling was his first title defense. However, Yan was disqualified because of an illegal knee. Thus, ‘Funk Master’ became the new champion.
