As the saying on the internet goes, accidental and unplanned memes are the best kind of memes. And that was recently proven true yet again when UFC CEO Dana White appeared on conservative commentator Sage Steele‘s podcast. Towards the end of his appearance, at around the one-and-a-half-hour mark, Steele would ask the Las Vegas resident a question that would go down in infamy and go viral on the UFC internet.

“So, what is Joe Rogan’s dream?” the host would ask White, who is obviously not Joe Rogan. The UFC boss would jump on the conservative commentator’s mistake and proceed to make fun of her for confusing him with his good friend and employee, quipping perhaps all bald white guys seem the same to her. Steele went on the ‘PBD’ podcast on ‘Valuetainment’s YouTube channel and insisted she had made an honest mistake.

Speaking about the misspeak, Sage Steele explained she did not, in fact, actually think Dana White was Joe Rogan throughout the length of the interview. She maintained she had mistakenly called him Joe Rogan and pointed out that she had booked the UFC CEO herself to be on the show. The reason behind this was due to a moment early in the episode.

“That moment happened at the end of an hour and twenty something minute podcast. Obviously, I knew who I was talking to. I’m the one who booked him for god’s sake. But, if you watch… the very beginning, I was like ‘what are you drinking? Can I have a sip?’ He’s like yes, it’s Joe Rogan’s energy drink… So Joe Rogan was in my head since the beginning.”

While she admitted she had called White ‘Joe’ at the very beginning, owing to this, it went unnoticed. But she would make the mistake again and get a flabbergasted reaction from the Power Slap founder, which embarrassed her.

“I actually think after that moment, I called him Joe like immediately. And no one caught it. I didn’t catch it, Dana didn’t catch it. Fast forward to an hour and a half and I said it… he looked at me- ‘Joe Rogan’s dream?’ My heart completely sunk,” she added. And while the podcaster hopes that the meme will die, it has taken a life of its own.

Rogan promotes the show with Dana White’s face on his poster

After Sage Steele’s faux pas went viral, Joe Rogan himself jumped on the bandwagon and used the meme to promote his comedy shows. The UFC commentator posted a poster announcing his upcoming stand-up dates with one amusing detail.

Instead of the JRE podcast host, the poster featured a picture of Dana White, a reference to the meme originating from Steele’s kerfuffle. Of course, this tickled fans to no end as they commended the UFC commentator on having a sense of humor about the whole affair and sarcastically pointed out that something seemed off about ‘Joe’ in the poster.

Although Steele is undoubtedly embarrassed by the whole affair, as it has been one of the most viral moments on the UFC internet in recent times, with even Rogan referring to it, it has given her good media exposure. All publicity is good publicity, as they say, and Steele has surely gotten a lot of publicity off of her faux pas.
