Jon Jones took to Twitter to post a video after Julianna Peña defeated Amanda Nunes. In the video Jon Jones films himself bleating like a goat, making a statement that he is the G.O.A.T. of MMA. This comes after major underdog Julianna Peña defeated Nunes at UFC 269. Dethroning the two-division champion, who many thought was undefeatable.

The intention of the video seemed to be to mock Amanda Nunes and the people who claim that she is the Greatest. After the fight, Jones also posted a tweet saying, “I know you Jon Jones haters are so pissed off right now. You can’t deny me and you hate it.” Jon Jones has gotten into many arguments online while making his case for his legacy. This is because many fans deny his accomplishments at light heavyweight, owning to the fact that Jones was suspended twice on doping allegations.

Replying to a comment, Jones later would justify his posts, saying, “That’s my thing, I made that famous. Screw fighting, tweeting is way easier. Definitely got nothing to prove anymore.” Jones has been talking a lot of trash on the internet ever since he vacated his light heavyweight belt. His subtle dig at Nunes isn’t a first. He has gotten into Twitter wars with middleweight champ Isreal Adesanya, Chael Sonnen, and many others.

Many say this is a marketing tactic. Jones is deploying tweets to keep his name in the news, even though he is currently inactive. If so, it seems to be working very well for the former champ as he gets a lot of attention for his tweets.
